Journal History

Филозофија/Filozofija - A Journal of Philosophical Inquiry is an international peer-reviewed journal published by the Institute of Philosophy within the Faculty of Philosophy at the Sts. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, in cooperation with the Philosophical Society of Macedonia. The journal publishes relevant philosophical articles across a wide spectrum of philosophical disciplines, including the history of philosophy, logic, epistemology, ethics, aesthetics, anthropology, political philosophy, philosophy of language, philosophy of law, philosophy of religion etc.

Филозофија/Filozofija aims at creating a forum of active philosophical reflection by  maintaining  a lively dialogue with the philosophical tradition and, at the same time, engaging in critical approach to the most significant philosophical questions of our time. Devoted to fostering philosophical communication that transcends cultural, ideological and language barriers, the Journal affirms the values of diversity, pluralism and originality of philosophical thought. It also encourages in-depth philosophical research according to highest academic standards, with the goal of opening new theoretical perspectives and further developing the conceptual tools for addressing the intellectual and practical challenges of the contemporary world.

The journal Филозофија/Filozofija was founded in 2001 and until June 2013 it was published by the publishing house Az-Buki in Skopje. In the period between 2001 and 2013 thirty-four issues were published, comprising more than four hundred articles by numerous authors from the country and the region.

The thirty-fifth issue is the first that will be published by the Faculty of Philosophy at the Sts. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. Starting from this issue, Филозофија/Filozofija becomes an open-access journal with a new editorial team, an enlarged international editorial board and an international advisory board. The on-line archive of the journal, which is still under construction, will include the electronic version of the papers of all previous issues, as well as the newly published ones.

We sincerely hope that the present transformation of Филозофија/Filozofija will bring about new and significant philosophical results, in which the efforts and contributions of our predecessors will be systematically integrated.
