Abstract

Differences between traditional and Internet-based research are also reflected in significant issues in the field of research ethics. This review covers several important ethical issues that arise from the characteristics of online-based research, such as the increased risks of potential exposure of confidential data and / or identity to third parties, the reduced control over participant recruitment and the way in which they are responding, and the dilemmas in deciding whether requiring informed consent is necessary or not.
